Ecology Station
Those interested in protecting nature should visit the ecology station for the Unna district in Bergkamen-Heil, which is located in the historically-protected former country manor “Schulze-Heil” from 1864. The ecology station houses several institutions and associations for environmental and nature protection. Demonstration facilities here show nature-friendly practices and provide special events and themed tours for very special experiences in nature. Tours of the ecology station are possible with prior reservation. Ask the ecology station directly about current environmental education offerings.
The following facilities can be seen here: Lippe viewing tower, wild bee learning path, Westphalian farmer's garden, environmental learning pond, plant-based wastewater treatment plant, calcareous grassland biotope, wayside shrine. Tours of the Muster pigsty and butcher operation can be made with prior reservations. Regional products like apple juice, jellies, honey, etc. can be purchased in the ecology station shop.
